Covid Approved Valentines Day Ideas

As we roll into 2021 we are still confronted with the Covid virus across our country. Many of us have missed out on yearly celebrations and events in order to stay safe and reduce the spread. Valentine’s day gives us a unique opportunity to celebrate a holiday that we can fully embrace, even during these odd times. Below are a few suggestions on ways to celebrate Valentine’s day fully while still maintaining Covid safety requirements!

Take A Hike – A scenic hike in any weather is a perfect way to unplug and spend time with someone you love. Not only can this hike provide a quiet escape but it can also provide picturesque views. If you are somewhere in a warmer climate – I highly suggest packing a lunch and taking a nice picnic at a great spot along the hike.

Take An Online Class – Hear me out here, covid has exploded the online courses market. I highly suggest taking part in a virtual cooking, mixology, or painting class. Both the cooking or mixology class will provide you with the feeling of going out and having a fancy meal/drinks but will also keep you safe at home. Not to mention, you may walk away with some sweet new skills. Painting classes are a blast too! These courses are designed to assist people from all levels of skill, so do not let your bad cooking/painting experiences turn you away.

Go Sightseeing/Take A Drive – Being from the Midwest, I love my road trips and Covid has reignited that love! Load up in your vehicle and head out for the day, plan on checking out new areas and some of your favorite local sightseeing places.

Want to make it even more interesting? Add in the coin flip game – https://inallyoudo.net/penny-date-adventure-game/

How this game works: get in your car and head straight. When you get to the first stop sign or light, flip the coin (Heads = left, Tails = right). Continue doing this for a pre-chosen amount of flips. Once you run out of flips look around your area and form a date from there. Sometimes you end up outside of a lovely local restaurant where you can grab carryout and snack in the car. Other times you end up outside a field – talk about a perfect place to picnic haha. All in all the goal is that no plan is needed…..you just go where you go.

Scrapbook – I am not a big scrapbook person but I think a Covid heavy Valentines day may be the perfect time to do this! Go into your pictures and print/find photos of you and your partner throughout your relationship. Take the time to look through the photos and document each event/time in your lives. Not only are these fun to show off to family and friends but they will come in handy as you age and progress through life together. It is crazy how much you forget even in a few short years.

Lazy Day – This one might be my favorite, I have been married over 10 years so maybe that’s why HAHA. This Valentines day idea focuses on enjoying the day and spending all of the time with your significant other. Start the day off with an easy breakfast in bed (I suggest pancakes, easy to make and small cleanup), take the time to make that fancy coffee or tea you love. Then snuggle up on the couch to watch your favorite movies or TV shows. Spend the day chatting and just enjoying each other’s company without having to do something. End the day with a long bubble bath including wine for two (wink emoji).

Most of all, enjoy your day with your person and make sure to express what they mean to you!
